Ventoux – Tommy Simpson

After three days in Provence we have ridden the Ventoux from all sides. Here we are remembering Tommy who died 1 kilometer from the summit saying at the time ‘put me back on my bike’.

Stelvio from both sides

Stelvio is the famous ride of the Dolomites and we did it justice by riding over it from both sides. First we hit it from Bormio and then descended the other side and transited to Switzerland to climb it thru the Swiss border. Over 4000 meters of climbing. But the descents were long and lovely!

Gavia Conquered

The transit to Bormio takes us over Passo Gavia. An epic ride at any time but for Peter it was his first major mountain pass so a great personal achievement after less than one year of riding.

Dolomites Tour v Euro 2012

It’s the transfer day to start our tour and also the final of Euro 2012 between Italy and Spain. We are in the Canazei town square watching the big screen with a thousand locals and 6 Spaniards. Of course Henda, our translator and driver is one of those 6. 2 nil to Spain as I go to bed so Italians not happy. For is it is the Sella Ronda on the morning! It doesn’t get any better.
