Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in tour costs?

Our tours use mostly 3 star accommodation in hotels chosen for their charm and cycle friendly facilities. In some villages we use 2 start hotels as they are the only option. The standard of meals and accommodation remains very high. Most meals are included, as is wine with all evening meals. All transfers are included for tours starting at Geneva, Toulouse and Milan.

All riding is guided. GPX files of routes are provided for all rides. During rides we have two guides and support vehicles. The support van has all necessary supplies of water, powders, lollies, fruit, etc.

Not included are flights, personal insurance, bikes and bike spares.

Can I take my bike?

Many of our clients prefer to take their own bikes. We can assist with information about how to do this.

Can I store my bike before or after my tour?

Yes, it is possible to store bikes while travelling. We can help you with information about how to do this.

Can I hire a bike in Europe?

Yes, we can arrange hire bikes. All road bikes are light weight carbon and properly set up to deal with the riding you will encounter.

Do I need insurance?

Insurance is required for our tours. Regular comprehensive travel insurance is all that is needed. We advise taking out an insurance policy at the time of booking as cover commences immediately. The insurance is not just for the cycling tour and your travels. Contact us for a quote and more information.

Does Diamond Cycle Tours have appropriate insurances?

Diamond Cycle Tours is an accredited travel provider. We carry specific sporting group travel insurance. Additionally we are an AFTA accredited Travel Agency and part of the AFTA Travel Accreditation Scheme – ATAS.

Hard case, soft case or cardboard box?

This often comes down to personal choice. A hard case does provide great protection for a bike. However they are often very heavy and have to be stored while not in use. The soft cases are often preferred for this reason. So long as they have a frame to connect the bike to and sufficient padding they have been the most popular choice on our tours. Our personal choice though has been cardboard boxes. They are cheap, weigh very little and can be discarded and re-purchased at major airports if necessary. Carefully packed and padded they have proven to be very effective.
