Flumet is in the heart of the Aravis Mountain range and is a great rest spot after our climb of the Aravis from La Clusaz and before our climbs of the Saisie and Cormet de Roselend. This is one of the great days of climbing and descending in our Classic French Alpes Tour. It is mid morning. The timing is perfect for a stop and Flumet is a great place to do it.

On the left edge of the photo is a sandwich board telling us about the panoramic view from the terrace on the other side of the restaurant. There is a spectacular gorge with an old stone bridge spanning it and beyond is the mountain we are about to climb, covered by an amazing variety of fur trees in more than 50 shades of green. Despite the panorama we opted for the shade and a view of our bikes!
